Subject: SnapAmp settings
I was setting up a SnapAmp for a 1.8 degree step motor following the instructions for setting the Inverse Distance parameter. The example of 1000 full steps per inch was exactly how my machine is set up. 5 turn per inch screws with direct drive. So I set it to 250 and the motor only growled but didn't move. What I found was the setting actually had to be set to 0.250. Did I miss something?

Thanks,
AZ

Hi AZ,

Depending on how you scale the output you need to set the speed appropriately for that scaling.  So for example if your speed is set at 100 units/second it makes a big difference if the units are inches, or full steps, or cycles.  I prefer to leave the invDistPerCycle set at 1.0 so that KFLOP operates in cycles.  Then set the Velocity, Acceleration, and Jerk in those units.  Also set the resolution in the PC application.  Sounds like you didn't consider what speeds, acceleration, or Jerk you were attempting.
